Uncle Ralph’s Carrots: Report #10 🥕

What’s with the carrots?

things that happened

🥕 Someone on Facebook was mad because their Keurig machine kept running with no coffee cups in it. Then they discovered their cat was turning on the Keurig machine just to warm its kitty butt.

🥕 The man who replied the Keurig Cat Problem post that his cat turns off his CPAP machine in the morning when it wants him to wake up.

🥕 “What none of them seem to know, however, is that the previous owner died 1) by cat attack and 2) wearing a terrible wig. WE SHOULD ALL BE SO LUCKY.” — from Stacie Ponder

  1. Turn off the CPAP is funny.

But I had to laugh at the Netflix one, and couldn’t you just pause it! That person is too young and has no experience of the old free to air television. The joy when video recorders appeared and we could record a show and fast forward through the ads or pause if we needed to make a cup of coffee or, as you Americans say, go the the bathroom!

  2. Mum still gets the newspaper delivered, rolled in cling wrap and tossed onto the front lawn (by grown men). On behalf of paper boys everywhere I would like to remind readers too young to know better that we would fold our newspapers carefully and stuff as much of them as would fit into your letterboxes, on our bikes, in the cold and the rain, before dawn.

  3. Sometimes I see people delivering newspapers here but it’s always annoying because they’ll drive below the speed limit on the highway so that they can slowly lean out the window and toss newspapers onto people’s driveways. (Our highway is actually a 2 lane road with a speed limit that can go as low as 50km/h but it’s the only way to get around most of the time.)

We don’t have a TV so when we stay at hotels I love giving my kids the chance to experience that part of my childhood by making them brush their teeth during commercial breaks and yelling at them to hurry!😂

  4. That last meme about the coworkers was one I made a screenshot of too! LOL

I still get a newspaper (Maryville Daily Times) and the post office delivers it! Which means that when there’s a federal holiday, there’s no print edition of the paper.

  5. The post about youngsters not knowing about live television made me laugh! I fairly often have these moments with my students now. One of them wanted to write her dissertation about the impact of smartphones on the risk of eating disorders. She was initially going to look at papers dating back to 2006, and I had to explain that none of us had smartphones until 2008 at the earliest and they didn’t become ubiquitous until much later! I felt I aged many years in that conversation.

    • Oh, Lou, that is a hoot. She was trying to research through our ancient scrolls of time (pre-Smart Phones, lol). I always wondered if the live TV joke lands with people who didn’t have siblings yelling, “It’s ooooon!” Do people even still do a run/tuck-and-roll into their living rooms anymore, or has that cherished tradition died?
