Uncle Ralph’s Carrots: Report #9 🥕

What’s with the carrots?

things that happened

🥕 “If you think that all the seeds I ordered precludes me from also buying plants, one of us is delusional.” — Stefphanie at A Stone in the River

🥕 I finally memorized the route to my main internship placement. Now, I can look around and appreciate the start of the mountains (it’s not like mountains just yet, but where they start coming out of the ground).

🥕 At the allergist’s office, I told a lady I liked her sweater because it looked like funfetti cake. I realized instantly that someone may not want to be compared to cake but she exclaimed, “That’s why I bought it!”

🥕 Comment from my profession: “Proud of you for advocating for yourself. It’s so important on internship to start figuring those things out.”

I visited Nick halfway! As Biscuit said, “The band’s back together,” lol

  1. I made Uncle Ralph’s Carrots! Woot! Though side note, my name is spelled with an “f” not a “ph” 🙂

So glad you and Nick got to have a “halfway” visit!

  2. I love that meme about small talk – so true! Also, the one with adult schedules aligning – so tragic and true. I’m glad you got to meet Nick halfway, and I’m even happier that these posts are continuing, I just love them.

Also, the part about the mountains just beginning (almost like rolling hills?). We call that ‘the foothills’ here. Right before the rocky mountains rise up, is the foothills, which is basically rolling hills that get bigger and bigger until they turn into giant mountains. Is that what the landscape sort of looks like there too?

  3. Yay for you and Nick getting to spend time together!

I am the worst about anthropomorphizing things! I can get way too sentimental about garbage and I don’t know why I’m like this!

  4. Sorry I missed this last weekend. It was full on with babysitting our two grandkids on Saturday, and then our granddaughters birthday on Sunday, and then driving back to Canberra early in the week. I am just trying to catch up now. Thrilled that you saw Nick half-way. That’s the answer I reckon. I’m meeting a wonderful old friend half way between us next month – we both drive 2 hours which is very doable, and stay for two nights, which is just wonderful.

Enjoyed all those posts/memes, but the one I related to most was the real tragedy of Macbeth. The real real tragedy is that it doesn’t get any better when you retire!

    • It does seem that my mom is even more busy now that she’s retired. There’s always something to do, and she visits Uncle Ralph a lot. It’s also been time consuming to figure out his living situation, banking, legal stuff, etc.

I’m glad you get to see your friend soon. Is this a blogging friend or just a fellow human?
