Hello, Twitter

Today, I finally got a Twitter account. I’m so far behind on social media (mostly because it’s scary) that Twitter will probably be obsolete by the time I master it! You can find me there with the handle @GrabTheLapels. Do they call them handles? Don’t worry; I plan on schooling myself this evening to learn more about communication in 140 characters or less.

What did surprise me was how many people had written about or shared materials from Grab the Lapels. I was honored and humbled, to say the least. So, if you’re a Tweeter (Twitterer? One who Tweets?) then find me so we can spread some book-ish love.

What are your favorite reasons to visit Twitter?

How often do you Tweet?

What do you Tweet about?

  1. Twitter is great for the bookish community! I follow several small publishers and it’s a great way to learn about book sales, writing opportunities, which books to look out for, etc.

    • Facebook made me have panic attacks because everyone is so angry over there. One of the appeals of Twitter for me is it’s so brief, so people can’t really pick up their pitchforks in the same way. Also, I love Goodreads, but no one seems to take the time to read me on there. I’m going to keep using it, but I’m going to do reading updates on Twitter.

  2. I followed you! I’m excited to have another active blogger over there. I usually play hashtag games in between sharing my posts. Sometimes I’ll link relevant articles or videos. Mostly I do it to have fun.

      • Usually if someone on twitter doesn’t like what you have to say they just block you. Sometimes you’ll get a snarky remark immediately before you’re blocked, but hey… you don’t have to read it right?

I haven’t had any trouble. I keep it professional-ish and I think that makes it easier to avoid the drama.

  3. I’m a new-ish Twitterer (Tweeter? Twit??). You can find me at @mummyspitsdummy It’s fun, but I’m still getting my head around the acronyms and some of the etiquette. I signed up so I’d have somewhere to promote my blog, but that’s been only mildly effective because I have very few followers and haven’t mastered the art of being hilarious in under 140 characters… one day, maybe. I mainly tweet about parenting and how rubbish I am at it (surprise!!). I’ll follow you for sure!
