Woo Hoo … reminds me of how in our old house we’d wait each spring for our blue tongue lizard. Always so special when you see loved critters reappear each season isn’t it?
Sometimes people are brazen enough to ask me how I know it’s the same toad, and I say, “CUZ IT IS.” You know me; I weave stories about everything, and I can’t help it, so that is definitely Toadman. One bit of evidence is now that I’ve seen him out of his barracks position, he is FAT. Like, every year just getting fatter and fatter. I’m so stoked that this critter is winning at life.
Same with our lizard… it did change over the many years… But we could usually tell if it were the old one or a new young one. And one year we found it dead in the back yard… Killed by a roaming cat we are pretty sure (of which the owner quite imperturbably agreed) when I saw him out front s few days later tracking his GPS-monitored cat. What could I say!
I contemplated getting two barn cats to help keep the mice out of the garage, but I know they absolutely destroy the local bird population for fun, and I thought about one of them killing Toadman to play with him, and I couldn’t do it.
Yay Frogerick!!!!

I felt self-conscious immediately posting a picture of a toad, but you know what? I think some folks were waiting for his arrival. 🤣

I’m glad you did because I have 100% been wondering about him!

I assumed a few people had but did not want to mention him for fear of him not coming back. 😂🐸

This toad is SO FAT. I love it. I’m hoping this is just the same toad every time and that he is winning at life.
